|After having obtained a B.A. in Economics from the Asmara University in Ethiopia, I started my professional career as a Junior Economist in the Project Preparation and Evaluation Department at the Ministry of Industry of Ethiopia. I then moved to the Tigaray Regional Industry as a departmental head of the Trade Bureau and later also the Industry and Trade Office, where I engaged in various activities to promote SMEs in the region. Amongst others, I provided consulting services in the areas of marketing, technology and finance related activities, conducted trainings for SMEs, assessed potential resources of the region, identified industrial project ideas, prepared industrial project profiles for potential investors, and carried out training needs assessment and impact assessments. |
Since 2005, I have been working as a cluster development agent in UNIDO projects in Ethiopia, where I have gained in-depth experience in preparing cluster diagnostic studies and action plans, building trust and linkages between cluster actors as well as monitoring and evaluation. The clusters I assisted focused on metal and wood works, as well as edible oil.
I also attended intensive trainings in the fields of entrepreneurship and SME development, business counseling and management.
